About Plum Village UK

A path of mindfulness, community, and compassionate action

Plum Village UK is a charity (legally named The Community of Interbeing UK) dedicated to cultivating a culture of mindfulness, compassion, and ethical living across the UK, rooted in the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village tradition of Engaged Buddhism.

We are part of the global community of lay and monastic practice centres and organisations offering teachings on engaged Buddhism and the art of mindful living. The main monastery and practice centre is located in Plum Village in France. In March 2026, we opened the first lay practice centre in the UK, called Being Peace, nestled in the heart of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
