28 April
8 – 10pm PST/IST | 6 – 8pm BST | 1 – 3pm ET | 10am – 12 noon PT
We come together to explore the ethical underpinnings of our respective faiths and our shared dedication to non-violence, reconciliation, justice and peace. Yet, we often find ourselves entrenched in divisive perspectives and views, leading to polarisation and the dehumanisation of one another.
Escalating violence in over 30 wars and armed conflicts worldwide, is exemplified in Gaza/Palestine and Israel – the increasing destruction of life, starvation, displacement, lack of humanitarian aid, hostage taking, unjust detentions, trauma and harm inflicted on children.
We witness and experience the escalation in retaliatory violence and demonisation taking place right here in our countries as Islamophobia and Antisemitism grows.
The peaceful coexistence of those on opposing sides is intertwined with one another. Israel’s peace is bound with that of Palestine, and peace for Palestine is bound up in ours – our peace is interconnected.
This Multi-faith dialogue with luminaries from Islam, Judaism, Christianity and Buddhism offers us an opportunity to explore how our practices and scriptures provide us with clarity, courage and resolve to engage in compassionate action for ceasefire, justice and peace for Palestine, Sudan, Ukraine, Syria, Myanmar, Israel, Russia and the 30 more countries currently at war or in armed conflict.
We are joined by Rev Mpho Tutu van Furth (Anglican All Saints Church), Rabbi Alissa Wise, (Jewish Voices for Peace), Imam Qari Asim (Makkah Mosque), Marisela Gomez (Plum Village) with meditation by Sister Peace (Plum Village).
Hosted by Rehena Harilall and Victoria Mausisa.
All donations will be split to support Taawon and the Hope & Play charities. You are welcome to offer your donations in advance using these links for card payments or for PayPal
