SUMMARY:Rainbow Sangha
DESCRIPTION:Who we are\nAs people identifying under this umbrella\, we may face challenges and discrimination within ourselves and from the outside. Our wish is to support each other and to acknowledge our own uniqueness and connectedness. \nWe co-create a mindful space where we can equally share our pain and our joy\, where we don’t need to assess risks of showing who we truly are or edit the queerness of our experience for the perceived benefit of others. We enjoy being joyfully together. \nWhat we do\nWithin Rainbow Sangha\, we have created a space that’s welcoming and open to anyone interested in the practice of mindfulness. Some of us have been practising for years and others are just starting out on their path of practice. We are mindful to explain and explore how we practice so that we all can benefit. \nMeeting on Zoom has allowed our sangha to be open to all\, regardless of location\, and we welcome participants from around the globe. Most of us join with our video enabled but some join only with audio\, whatever works best for each person. \nAs well as our weekly Rainbow Sangha\, we have a gender diverse sangha which meets monthly\, and a study group which meets twice a month. \nWhat we say\nIt is a very friendly\, warm\, and supportive community. What amazes me especially is how diverse it is: every part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum seems to be represented\, and there is also a wide range of ages and life experiences. This makes the process of dharma sharing incredibly rich. \n— Mark S\, gay\, cis-gendered male\, age 65 \nit is no exaggeration to say Plum Village and this Sangha have transformed my life for the better. It is a great source of comfort\, stability and happiness for me. It is very welcoming\, kind and supportive\, like a big warm hug. \n— Jules\, cis-gendered lesbian\, age 48 \nRainbow Sangha is a place where I feel safe and allows me to be me! We practice deep listening and Dharma sharing\, meditation and Thay’s teachings and I feel valued\, accepted and loved! I love my new virtual family!! \n— Julie (she/her) \nThe welcome\, warmth and wisdom of friends from across the spectrum has nourished me to grow in myself and the support and sharing is an inspiration. A simply joyous space. \n— K8 MacKenzie – she/her \nThe sangha is a truly welcoming\, warm\, honest and nurturing space and it’s so beautiful to see friendly diverse faces each week and to share time together. \n— Natalie \nI really like the fact that the sangha is completely rainbow spectrum Inclusive especially as for TNB people for whom diverse sexuality is also relevant. \nGary \n  \nJoining Us\nPlease email us at rainbowsanghauk@gmail.com for more information on Rainbow Sangha and how you can join us.

SUMMARY:Diamond Moon Sangha
DESCRIPTION:Diamond Moon Sangha – Vajra Chandra Sangha\nA Sangha for Disabled (Dis) and Neurodiverse (ND) practitioners following the teachings of Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh\, Sisters\, Brothers and Siblings of Plum Village. \nIn our Sangha\, we embrace a mindful approach to navigating the challenges of disability and neurodiversity\, inspired by the teachings of Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh\, the Buddha\, and the practices of Plum Village. \nWe understand that pain\, whether physical or emotional\, is a natural part of life. Through mindfulness\, we learn to observe our differences with a gentle and non-judgemental awareness\, transforming our relationship with them. \n  \nMindful Approach to Disability & Neurodiversity\nWe recognise the interconnectedness of mind and body\, and the interbeing nature of our experiences through a “disabled body or neurodiverse lens”. \nInterbeing\, a term from Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings\, refers to the interconnectedness of all things the understanding\, that nothing exists in isolation\, and every experience is shaped by countless conditions. \nViewing the world and our experiences through our unique perspectives as disabled and neurodiverse individuals\, acknowledging how our bodies and minds interact with the environment and society. \nThis holistic view helps us to understand and respond to difficulties and pain\, as well as to the joys. Enhancing the positives and supporting and working through the challenges of sharing the body and mind\, broadening how we relate to our place in the cosmos. \n  \nA Safe and Accessible Environment for All\nOur Sangha is a space where everyone can practise together\, regardless of their diagnosis. We are committed to creating an accessible and supportive environment\, where each member feels seen\, heard\, and valued. \nTo ensure inclusivity\, we offer online meetings with captioning\, sensory-friendly spaces\, and flexible participation options to accommodate diverse needs\, fostering a community of compassion. \nThe Sangha name ‘Diamond Moon’ refers to the zen guidance of “the finger pointing at the moon” which is a metaphor that illustrates the distinction between teachings (the finger) and the ultimate reality or truth (the moon) they point to. The diamond’s facets illustrating the various aspects of ND and Dis lived experience. \n  \nDiamond Moon Sangha – Vajra Chandra Sangha\nA Sangha for Disabled (Dis) and Neurodiverse (ND) practitioners\, as well as everyone seeking community in the spirit of inclusiveness\, following the teachings of Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh\, our beloved Sisters\, Brothers\, and Siblings of Plum Village. \nIn our Sangha\, we gently hold space for all who wish to walk or roll the mindful path\, embracing the full spectrum of human experience. Guided by the wisdom of Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh\, the Buddha\, and the practices of Plum Village\, we recognise that pain\, whether physical\, emotional\, or societal\, is part of our shared journey. \nWith compassion and curiosity\, we practise seeing and honouring our differences through the eyes of understanding. \nAs Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us\, The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love\, they will bloom like flowers \n  \nMindful Approach to Disability\, Neurodiversity\, and Inclusiveness\nWe celebrate the interconnectedness of mind and body\, and the interbeing nature of our experiences knowing that each person brings their own unique perspective to our shared practice. \nInterbeing\, a central teaching of Thich Nhat Hanh\, is the realisation that all things and all people are deeply woven together; no one and nothing is isolated. \nOur collective wisdom is enriched by recognising how our diverse bodies\, minds\, backgrounds\, and identities interact with the world around us. \nAs our teacher says\, “When you touch one thing with deep awareness\, you touch everything.” \nWith this insight\, we welcome and affirm every part of ourselves and one another. Whether we arrive carrying visible or invisible differences\, our Sangha aspires to offer not only acceptance\, but a wholehearted embrace of all that we are. \nWe see disability and neurodiversity\, as well as other lived experiences\, not as barriers\, but as facets of the beautiful jewel of our community each shimmer adding depth and light. \nBy listening deeply and sharing mindfully\, we grow our compassion and nourish each other’s joy\, resilience\, and wisdom. \n  \nA Safe\, Accessible\, and Welcoming Environment for All\nOur Sangha is a refuge where all are welcomed regardless of diagnosis\, ability\, background\, language\, culture\, identity\, or spiritual journey. Our commitment is to continually create spaces that are safe\, accessible\, and supportive\, where every member feels seen\, heard\, and valued. \nWe strive to meet one another with open hearts and open minds\, inviting feedback and co-creating practices that honour the fullness of our community’s diversity. \nTo foster genuine inclusiveness\, we offer online gatherings with live captioning\, sensory-friendly settings\, and flexible participation options. We are attentive to the evolving needs of our Sangha\, adapting as we learn together. \nGuided meditations may be tailored for various sensitivities\, and silent or gently facilitated spaces are always available for those who need calm or reflection. No one is left behind or forgotten; all are invited to share in the nourishing energy of our collective mindfulness. \n  \nThe Meaning Behind Diamond Moon\nThe name ‘Diamond Moon’ evokes the Zen teaching of “the finger pointing at the moon”: a reminder that teachings are but guides\, pointing us toward the wonders of truth and reality never separate\, always interconnected. \nThe diamond’s many facets represent the rich variety of lived experience within our Sangha\, each angle reflecting a different kind of beauty and strength. \nThe moon casts its gentle light on all beings without exception\, just as our community aspires to radiate welcome and understanding to everyone. \nAt Diamond Moon Sangha\, we invite all who seek a loving\, inclusive community to join us in cultivating mindfulness\, happiness\, and understanding honouring every individual\, every background\, and every path. \nTogether\, we discover that through our differences\, our practice and our compassion only deepen. In the words of Thich Nhat Hanh\, “We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness.” \nExplore community \n  \nDiamond Moon Sangha – Vajra Chandra Sangha Charter\nA refuge of mindfulness\, compassion\, and inclusiveness in the Plum Village tradition. \n  \nMotivation\nDiamond Moon Sangha exists to offer a safe\, loving\, and accessible community for all beings Disabled (Dis) and Neurodiverse (ND) practitioners and mental health challenges\, where mindfulness and compassion are practised in the spirit of Ven. Please reserve a free ticket. \n\nTouch the awakened nature within ourselves as we honour the Buddha’s life\, his awakening\, and the path he opened for all beings \nVesak is the Buddhist celebration of the Buddha’s life and Enlightenment. It is a precious moment for us to gently recognise our habit energies\, to nourish understanding and compassion\, and to reflect on the legacy we offer the world through our thoughts\, our speech\, and our actions. \nWe lovingly request that you reserve a free ticket so that we can understand how many friends are attending and offer a celebration that is safe\, warm\, and truly meaningful for everyone in our community. \nThe Ceremony\nDuring the ceremony\, we will sit together in the spirit of siblinghood. With each step\, we can offer our presence and dedicate our steps to the Buddha\, to Th?y\, and to those who are dear to us. \nWe will then water the baby Buddha as we are held by the Chant of Compassion – Namo Avalokiteshvaraya. \n“The baby Buddha is the seed of awakening in every one of us.” \nEveryone is warmly welcome\, especially children who bring their own freshness and joy to the practice. \nYou may bring fresh flower petals to add to the Buddha’s bath if you wish. \nWe hope to share this nourishing Vesak celebration with you. \nThe Organising Team – a beautiful collaboration of Plum Village Sanghas \nColours of Compassion Sangha \nFamily Sangha \nHeart of London Sangha \nMai Blossom Vietnamese Sangha \nWake Up London Sangha

SUMMARY:Mindful Morning - Is peace really possible?
DESCRIPTION:This month facilitated by Michael Schwammberger\n  \nLooking at recent events (the war in the Middle East) including the situation in Ukraine\, Gaza\, Lebanon\, Sudan\, and other forgotten conflicts\, we may get the feeling that perhaps genunine longterm peace is an illusion. \nYet at the same time our Plum Village tradition has direct roots in the Vietnam war and from that event Thay has offered us a way to practice peace and to create the foundations for peace to manifest. \nThe talk will invites us all to reflect on peace as a theme and to collectively see what we can do to nurture peace. \nResources\nBUILDING FOUNDATIONS FOR PEACE \nMINISTRY FOR PEACE \n  \n\n\nMichael Schwammberger (Chan Phap Son – True Dharma Mountain) \nMichael was born in the UK but grew up in the beautiful island of Ibiza\, Spain. \nIn 1996 he arrived in Plum Village inspired by Thay’s book Peace is Every Step after having practiced insight meditation for 4 years at Gaia House meditation centre\, in the UK. \nHe stayed on in Plum Village\, being deeply moved by Thich Nhat Hanh and the sense of community\, and ended up ordaining as a novice monk in February 1997\, receiving his full ordination and the 14 mindfulness trainings in 1998. \nIn January 2003 he received the lamp transmission. He lived in Plum Village\, France and the monasteries in the United States (Deer Park and Maple Forest\, now Blue Cliff) and travelled extensively with Thay in his teaching tours. \nMichael took a sabbatical in 2011 and returned to lay life in 2012 and teaches as a lay teacher offering retreats in Europe and Israel. \n\nOn the first Sunday of every month\, we offer a Morning of Mindfulness led by UK Lay Dharma Teachers\, Members of the Order of Interbeing\, Monastic Dharma Teachers and special guests. \nThe morning will typically include a guided meditation\, followed by a talk or panel. After a short break\, there will be an opportunity for Dharma sharing in groups. \n  \nMain image by Maria Baltazzi on Unsplash
